Overview

Two products. One mission: make going solar effortless.

We were approached by two solar companies facing the same core challenge — converting curious homeowners into paying customers. The first, Lytegen, needed a polished marketing presence to reflect their premium, trust-first brand. The second, Laibach Solar, needed a technical product that could turn a homeowner’s electricity bill into a precise, personalised solar recommendation — instantly.

Rather than building two disconnected projects, we approached both with a unified strategy: design a conversion ecosystem where the marketing site builds desire, and the estimator removes every barrier to commitment. Together they form a complete digital sales machine for the solar industry.

Solar sales are broken — too complex, too slow, too impersonal.

No instant answers

Homeowners couldn't get a price estimate without waiting days for a salesperson to call back — killing momentum and trust.

Generic quotes

Cookie-cutter proposals ignored roof direction, shading, local tariffs, and real consumption data — leading to poor-fit installations.

Weak brand presence

Lytegen's existing site didn't reflect the quality of their work or build the trust premium buyers expect before spending $10K+.

Leads lost in the pipeline

Leads captured via basic contact forms were manually copied into CRM — slow, error-prone, and impossible to act on quickly.

Key strategic solution layers:

The Problem

A conversion ecosystem — beautiful on the outside, smart on the inside.

We designed and built two tightly coordinated products: a premium marketing website for Lytegen and an intelligent solar estimator for Laibach Solar. The estimator is the technical centrepiece — it uses satellite imagery, sun-angle data, and electricity provider APIs to generate a real recommendation in under 90 seconds, then pushes the lead directly into the company’s CRM.

Every screen was designed to reduce anxiety and build confidence. The estimator walks the homeowner through their address, monthly bill, and preferred system type — and by the end they have a system size, panel count, net cost (after 26% ITC), and a scheduled site visit. Zero friction. Zero cold calls needed.

Google Solar Api

Analyses the actual rooftop using satellite imagery — calculates roof area, pitch, and sunlight hours across all orientations.

Electricity Provider Data

Automatically detects the local utility company and pulls live tariff rates to calculate exact savings projections.

System Sizing Engine

Converts monthly bill to kWh consumption, calculates required panel count and system kW for full offset.

Live CRM Push via API

Every completed estimate fires a webhook to the company CRM — name, address, system config, chosen package, and preferred visit date.

4 System Packages

Solar Only, Solar + Battery + TOU, Solar + Battery + Back-Up, and Full Back-Up — with optional Tesla EV charger add-on.

ITC Tax Credit Calculator

26% Investment Tax Credit applied automatically — shows system price, net cost, and net cost-per-watt in real time.

The Solutions

Our Process

This project was delivered as a full-stack strategy-to-development engagement.

We ran both projects in parallel — the website and estimator share visual language, brand logic, and a common conversion goal. Here’s how we got there.

01

Discovery & Research

Mapped the homeowner journey from “solar curious” to signed contract. Identified the four biggest drop-off points in competitor funnels. Benchmarked electricity providers across target states.

02

Design System

Built a shared design language for both products — forest green authority, solar amber energy, clean editorial type. Figma prototypes for every screen and state before a single line of code.

03

API Architecture

Integrated Google Solar API, Google Maps Geocoding, local utility data, and the client’s CRM webhook. Built a Node.js backend that orchestrates all calls within a single estimator session.

04

Frontend Build

React.js estimator with animated step transitions, interactive system selector cards, live price calculator, and thermal roof-map visualisation from Google Solar data. WordPress for Lytegen marketing site.

05

Launch & Optimise

Deployed with A/B tested CTA copy, funnel analytics, and CRM validation. Iterated on drop-off screens post-launch. Onboarded the sales team to their new lead dashboard.

The product in detail

From rooftop analysis to scheduled site visit — the estimator walks homeowners through a seven-step journey that ends with a complete, personalised solar proposal and a confirmed appointment in the company’s calendar. We ran both projects in parallel — the website and estimator share visual language, brand logic, and a common conversion goal. Here’s how we got there.

Google Solar API

Provides rooftop segment data, usable area calculations, annual sunshine hours, and directional irradiance values for any address in the US.

Core Intelligence

React.js

Component-driven SPA for the estimator. Multi-step flow with state management, animated transitions between steps, and live reactive pricing updates.

Frontend

Node.js Backend

Express API layer orchestrating all third-party calls. Handles Google Solar, Geocoding, utility data lookups, and outbound CRM webhooks from a single session.

Backend

Google Maps API

Address autocomplete, geocoding to lat/lng, and satellite imagery rendering with the thermal heatmap overlay showing solar potential.

Core Intelligence

Electricity Provider API

Detects the homeowner's local utility from their address and returns current tariff structure — enabling accurate monthly savings projections.

Frontend

CRM Webhook Integration

On estimate completion, a structured payload fires to the client's CRM — including system config, chosen package, pricing, and preferred visit date.

Sales Pipeline

WordPress (Lytegen)

Headless-styled WordPress build for the marketing site — fast, SEO-optimised, and editable by the Lytegen team without developer involvement.

CMS

Tigo Energy

All system packages are built around Tigo-branded inverters, optimisers, and batteries — client's preferred hardware, integrated into the product selector.

Hardware Partner

Figma + Design System

Full component library covering every UI state. Handed off alongside the codebase so the client can design future features with brand consistency.

Design

Built on best-in- class infrastructure

Every technology was chosen for reliability, accuracy, and the ability to scale. The estimator processes live satellite, weather, and tariff data on every single run — no caching, no guesswork.

“The estimator changed everything for us. Homeowners come to the sales call already knowing their system size, panel count, and net cost. They’re not just curious — they’re ready to sign. Our close rate jumped and the time our reps spend on education dropped to almost nothing.”

“I honestly can’t say enough good things about Lytegen. They were always quick to respond to my questions and completely upfront from start to finish. I’d give Lytegen a 10 out of 10.”

“Everything went so smoothly and way faster than I expected. From signing up to getting the panels installed, it only took three weeks, while my neighbors waited months with other companies.”
